Soulwax site- wow. That just rocked my world due to the completely unorthadox organization. I realize that it's frustrating but it does show that their are other possibilities out there. The NY Excuse video is great.

Agreed, Scott. I think it's useful to think outside of the box in terms of UI as a designer, as well as try them out as users. Ultimately, a UI should strive for real-world responsiveness and ease-of-use. Naturally, there's a million different ways that, as humans, we're used to interacting with our environment, so there's never one right answer. Certainly the UI conventions now in place are far from perfect, and I applaud Soulwax for attempting to challenge these conventions and offer an alternative. Unfortunately for them, I'm not sure any of their users stayed long enough to give it a real chance. Baby steps are called for, perhaps.

A site you might find interesting in terms of new forms of navigation is dontclick.it. It's a beautiful site, and walks you through the transition to a new method of interaction. Check it.
