ANTM - Afraid Of Russia

I didn’t do my usual America’s Next Top Model post last evening for several reasons.

The biggest one is this: Anger over what was clearly a political move to improve US/Russia relations by allowing one of the absolute worst contestants in Top Model history to advance to the Final Three.

That Natasha (the Russian Texan) is still in the running is absurd. Absurd. So absurd as to warrant use of even harsher language: It is bullshit.

Don’t get me wrong - I have nothing against Russia. I love Russia. My girlfriend’s mother is from Russia.

But Natasha is not attractive. Not photogenic. Not personable. Not a good model.

I didn’t care for Dionne (who was eliminated last night), but still. Absurd. Unfortunate. My faith in the show has been shaken.

At least Renee is still going strong, having won the challenge this week. That’s all I have to hold on to at this point.

Next week, I’ll be missing the finale to go see Daniel Johnston at the David Bowie-curated Highline Festival. At this point, I’m not too sad about that.
